1964 Highlights:
  • A Road Safety Competition was jointly sponsored by the Hong Kong Kai Fong Association and the Jaycees. It was gratifying to note from the statistics that the number of traffic accidents at the black spots was reduced during the 3-month Road Safety Campaign.
  • Answered the call of the British Red Cross Society, Hong Kong Junior Chamber of Commerce launched a campaign to publicize the harmless nature of blood giving. Special efforts were made to dispel the Chinese fear towards blood giving.
  • Pedal Cyclist Proficiency Test was conducted for the dual purposes of promoting road safety consciousness among cyclists and improving general skill in handling of bicycles. With the aid of the Government Traffic Department the project was successfully implemented under the joint sponsorship of the Tin Tin Yat Po, Road Safety Association, and the Jaycees.
  • Dr Raymond H S Lee, a member of the Library Sub-committee of the Urban Council, declared open the Jaycee-Eartha Kitt Library at the Lo Fu Ngam Resettlemnt Estate on Mar 7. This Library was then handed over to the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups who agreed to provide a librarian and looked after the maintenance. This brought the total number of Jaycee libraries to 24.
  • President Benjamin Wong was elected to act as Hon secretary for the Finance Sub-Committee of Public Farewell to His Excellency Sir Robert Black, the Governor of Hong Kong.
